Sometimes I turn into an elegant and free horse, running across the meadow, away from my everyday me. Other times I become a wild monkey, hanging in the curtains. Every now and then, I can also see it in other people around me. Do you know what I mean? A growling bear, a majestic swan or a cheerful little goat? Grown-ups often hide their Inside-Animal away, tame them and lock them up. Isn’t that a pity? Rescue the Inside-Animal!
In Inside-Animal, five grown-ups are scientifically busying themselves with water, glasses and a schoolboard. But they manage less and less to suppress their instincts. Machine-like pattern dances transform into animalistic movements, metronomes turn into fiery flamenco and the glasses fly all over the place. Control vs. impulse and order vs. chaos.
Inside Animal is the second children’s performance by Josephine van Rheenen en Guy Corneille, after Pokon (4+). With it, they want to reach out to all those ‘untamed’ children (and adults) who always have to hide away the animal inside them.
